It looks like the rainy season is approaching soon! But the students here at BeeBee English are full of bright smiles and positive attitudes. Here are a few photos from our second year Kindergarten class.
We first like to warm up doing a few yoga poses. This gets the students relaxed and ready to focus!
“Which pose do you want to do?”
“Cobra pose? Nice choice! Let’s stretch our bodies up high and count to ten!”
Next, the English song for the month is “Open Shut Them”. This is a fingerplay song and the students really enjoy singing, making gestures and having fun!
“open, shut them” “loud and quiet” “fast and slow” etc.
For this second year kindergarten class, we are focusing on building reading fluency using Sight Word Readers. The target sentences are “I play with…” and “My…can…”
“I play with blocks.” “My bear can read.”
This year the students are learning lowercase letters! We use worksheets that focus on handwriting practice, motor skills, letter recognition and building vocabulary skills. This week’s letter is “Ff”.
“Can you find the small f?”
“Repeat after me, Fish.”
After that it’s time to have a bit of fun with an activity called “ABC Race Game”. The students really enjoy this activity because they can race across the room and grab the letters that they know. It’s a great activity to make sure students are able to read and recognize the information that is being taught.
“Ready, set, go!!!”
We calm down after the activity with storytime. Students like to bring a stuffed animal along too! Today’s book, “Ketchup On Your Cornflakes?” is always a big hit!
“Close your eyes and go!”
The students enjoy flipping through the pages and having their classmates tell them when to stop. They are able to make funny combinations when they aren’t looking.
“Do you like jam on your french fries?”
“No, I don’t.”
Everyone is able to have a good laugh together!
